My apologies, it seems that my original post did not submit,
so I will just re-post it.
This week teams were formed and we were introduced to our
other members. Working in a group is nothing new and rarely gets easier, there
will always be disagreements over how to proceed but over the past two terms
many students have gotten use to these types of problems. From my experience I have
found that it is best to take the best ideas from each individuals design and
try to put them together if it is possible, also to determine which is the best,
the individual must support their idea with evidence or an explanation and must
accept that their idea might be turned down or modified. The teams were also told
to download west point bridge designer and register for a local competition.
After short testing with west point it has come to my
attention that the areas that tend to fail are the end points and the middle,
probably because the most force goes through these areas.
I will have images of designs, costs and more analysis for
next weeks post.
